Just returned from my Dodge dealer inquiring about a TSB or procedure to lower the rear end ride height for my 2007 Laramie 2500 4x4. New 5th-wheel hitch height needs to come down 2-3 inches to level the trailer.
I have read numerous posts on this forum from Matt400, GerryDrake, and others about this subject on 2001-2003 trucks.
Dealer tells me: (1) that no TSB exists for 2005 and later trucks, and (2) he didn't know about removing the three 1/2 inch spacers. Service Manager did check with Dodge Tech Services and called back to say they could not remove the spacers. He quoted Tech Services as saying it would change the angle of the driveshaft effecting the pinion gear roller bearings, etc. etc. AND that it most certainly would void my warranty. I asked how that could be when I pointed out that half the truck on his lot had the spacers and half did not. He says Dodge uses a lot of different rear ends and driveshafts??
OK, anyone have guidance for me on removing the spacers or not (other than going to another Dodge dealer)? Pretty frustrating when most of us buy these trucks to haul stuff.
