Hello all,

I noticed that you can order aluminum wheels with a 2500 4x4, however you can't get them on a 3500 SRW 4x4 from the factory. Is there any difference between the two wheels? Could you buy a set of the 2500 4x4 aluminum wheels and put them on a 3500 SRW 4x4?

Thanks

Ryan

um, as far as i know, you can get the alloy wheels on the 3500's. but in most packages in 2500/3500 the alloy wheels are already in some package so you can't add another set on when there is alloy's already coming with it. the alloy wheels are standard on the slt and laramie iirc. they are option on st [they also come with the sport package]

I think the alloy wheels are available on the 3500-SRW, but they are definitely NOT included as part of the SLT package.

Yup... . I did some extra looking around tonight and found out that the chrome steel wheels are standard and the aluminums are optional on the SLT 2500 and 3500 SRW Rams. If you get the Laramie package, so get the aluminum wheels standard, but can opt for the chrome steel wheels. Thanks for the info.

rmc, glad you straightened that out for me. I test drove two Laramie SRW's. One had alum. wheels and the other had the chrome steel. Personally I don't like the drab look of the alum. wheels. The alloys on my 01 look much better. Just my . 02.

No problem wyosteve. . glad to help... :) I too am not real crazy about the "drab" finish on the '03 aluminum wheels, but chrome steel wheels (no matter how hard to try to prevent it), always seem to flake and rust rust, even after just a few years. Especially if live in northern NJ like me, where the road crews use unbelievable amount of road salt during the winter months. Back to the "drab" finish of the aluminum wheels, I too agree the finish on my 2001 SLT wheels looks better than the new wheels, however I was thinking I could just take the '03 wheels and have them professionally polished to a shinny finish.

The wheels on dually's are different from the SRW versions. If you see a dually you'll notice the deep dish of the rears is the same as the fronts, which are mounted back wards from the from the backs and stick out. This is so the spare will fit both fr. and rear on the dually. I know my description kinda stinks so check out an add someplace and you'll see what I'm talking about.
