Cross Roads Brand trailer????????

I currently pull a 32 foot Play-Mor fifth wheel toy hauler, double axle that weighs 10k empty. I have no idea what the hitch weight is but my truck handles it fine. My question is I have been looking at some bigger triple axle trailers with hitch weights around 3000 to 4000 lb, is this too much for my 09 2500 4x4?? Or do I need to go to a dually or is this overweight for it to??

On any SRW truck your biggest limit is tires/wheels. Generally speaking your limited to 6390 lbs on the rear axle. My 05 QC LB 4x4 sits at about 3300 lbs with a full tank of fuel and without me, so I have 3K lbs to spare, which would include driver/passengers/gear/etc that adds to the rear axle weight. You would be pushing it with 3K in pin weight, but 4K would certainly be too much on a SRW truck.

But to know for sure find a scale and see what your rear axle weighs when your truck is loaded how it would be for camping and full of fuel, then you know how much pin weight you can handle.

That is a lot on a 2500. You would definitely need a helper system and stepping up to a stronger tire/wheel combo like 19. 5s

Before we sold the house and went full time. There used to be a local guy had a F-250 that towed a 3 axle toy hauler.

You don't want your truck to look like that. *** end low, front end high, way overloaded.

Load your Ram 2500 with a full tank of fuel and the tools, people, and miscellaneous equipment you carry when pulling your travel trailer and take it to a public scale or truck stop with a scale. Weigh both axles and rear axle only.

Subtract your actual rear axle weight from the GAWR for your truck's rear axle. The result is maximum load you can carry.

It will not permit towing a large triple axle trailer.

As has been posted, but look at dry weights and determine if that's within your rating, then demand before purchase allowing you to have it weighed with your truck. Now that if it is within the ratings you will have to calculate for any nessasary liquids, fresh water, fuel (toy hauler) and propane ... ... ... The dealer will not allow you to fill the tanks.

A buddy of mine hauls a triple axle toy hauler with a 02 2500 4X4 with air bags, and does just fine. He fills his tanks with only the essentials and has been doing this for a couple of years now. Sort of like what pilots do when flying at max weights, they will calculate how much fuel they can fill their tanks with to stay within the allowed weights. The problem will be the location of the tanks in relation to where the axles are. For example my AF 5ver has the fresh water tank forward of the axles which adds a lot more pin weight, and after weighing my 04. 5 with it, it was legal but left only enough fresh water for toilet use.
