2500 or 3500

Is the ride any different between the 2500 or 3500 swd

Depends what you are using it for. A 3500 rides much better loaded . There's a much more solid feel [ less side sway] pulling a trailer with a set of training wheels on back. My neighbor has a 2wd dually and says it will get stuck on wet grass and has big problems on slick snow and ice. He loves it on dry pavement

My truck weighs 9500 every day so the choice was easy.

I think that wheelbase[ long plus quad cab] improves the ride more than anything else on a stock truck.

I have seen many people in my neck of the woods driving 3500 trucks just to look cool , but you have to remember that braking force is reduced on the rear when the truck is empty. [no flame intended on 3500 drivers who ''just look cool'' because 3500 trucks look very cool]

There are plenty of ways to improve the ride over stock. --rear air bags and better shocks, but talk to or search this site for people who have done it rather than someone who heard someone else's opinion

I hope I didn't stray to far off the subject of ride quality, but if you're going to spend this kind of money on a truck , think about what is important to you , how much off road use, and think about handling along with ride quality GOOD LUCK

The 2500 and the 3500 single rear wheel is the same exact truck. The only difference is the 3500 srw comes with rear overload springs standard - which is also an option on the 2500, I believe. One significant difference, though - the 3500 srw has higher payload and tow ratings - even though the 2500 has the same frame, axles, brakes, etc... Go figure. Ain't marketing great?

I have been looking at them and the 2500 is $500 less then a 3500. I am trying to decide which one to buy. Because if there is no difference in the ride I will get the 3500. I drove a 2500 yesterday but they did not have a 3500 to drive. And I was wondering if any one has drove both of them ?

The 3500 SRW has what is essentially the Camper Prep package, that is the overload springs, Cab Clearance Lights, higer GVWR, Higher GCWR, the 3500 badges, higher insurance, higher commercial registration, more prestige, and awesome looks ( from other drivers ). Add the missing items to the 2500 and its essentially the same as the 2500 and close on price.



The camper option is no longer offered, the difference in price between two similar well equipped trucks, 2500 / 3500 SRW is really only about $600. 00 max. The ride of my SRW is excellent, no different than an unloaded 2500.
