How many people are running 255-85-16 on their 1-ton and do you need spacers for the rear tires? I will be pulling a gooseneck and don't want the tires to rub but I also want the extra clearance from the 33" tall tire. I was thinking BFG's or Truxxus from super swamper and the 8pr doesen't bother me.

10Farmer,

I use the 255-85-16's on my truck and yes I also use a spacer. I mounted them first without one, and they had about 3/8-1/2" clearance between them, but over night the settled and touched. That was with no load. I also pull a gooseneck trailer, and the 1 1/4" spacers work very good for me. I got mine at Performance Wheel abd they are made of 6061-T6 billet aluminum. I also have a set of BFG M/t's and the Trxus mud tire, both fit fine. www.performancewheel.com or303-762-8875

TMTT is runnin 255 w/o a spacer & BFG M/T's he likes it - ok

I'm runnin 285's on a dullie w/ a 2. 5" spacer , could have gone w/ 1. 75" but I like the wide look & rocks & crap dont get stuck it the middle

ok now tires those are all good tires "BUT" the compounds are soft & wear fast look around for rubber w/ a harder compound

if you are loaded often , I run Mud Kings the first BFG M/T before they changed the tread pattern & compounds , i'm loaded every day , make that the truck is loaded every day , I only get loaded

on the weekends

well g/l in you quest Oo. Oo. Oo.

Y-knot, thanks for the reply that is the info I was looking for.

Do you have to go with the 1 1/4" spacer or can you get by with a smaller one?

I don't think I would want any smaller, I did go with the 1 1/4" instead of the standard 2", this gives me about 3/4" space when loaded.

A local tire dealer told me that cooper's are a bit narrower and fit a dually w/o a spacer. Don't know if it's true, but you may want to look into it. He said he's done it on a few already and may be able to give you info on the tire type, etc... Here's the contact info: MGB tire 860-283-9634 Thomaston, CT

I put a set of Trxxus 255's on my '96 and love em. A friend gave me four '02 rims which have about 3/8"-1/2" more offset. Will add some spacers because there is no way I can get my tire chains on for the challenging days. :D

When at ATS in Denver a dually in the back lot had a set of 33/12. 50/16's and one of the guys said he was picking up a set of spacers to run 35's. Boy would I like to eventually go that route!!

pwknapp,

How do you like your PDR 35 and how much EGT difference is there? Is there any hp gain and what kind of hp can you go up to (425,450)?
