I'm pulling my hair out trying to decide between a 265/75 or a 255/85 on my crappy 16x6. 5 factory chrome wheels on my 99. I'm AFRAID that a 255/85 will look skinny and goofy... BUT it will fill up the wheelwell better.

I REALLY would like to try the TRXUS 255/85, but can't find a whole lot about it. Does anyone have good experience with that tire on our trucks? One other one that I'm looking at is the Toyo Open Country AT in the 265/75.

Other options I'm considering in the 265/75 are

mastercraft courser CT's

dunlop radial rover RV's

bfg MT or AT

Hankook MT's

in the 255/85

BFG MT

dunlop radial rover RV

Toyo offers a 255-85-16 load range "E". Definitely skinny but handles the load and probably helps fuel economy. I've got the 285's and they work really well.

I've been running 315's on my truck, and I'm torn between 285 BFG AT E's or 255/85 Toyo E's

I'm tired of the big tires soaking up all my HP and acceleration. Thinking the 255's might offer a little less weight and slightly more height than the 285's. I don't mind them looking skinny. stockers are only 265's and they look fine to me

What style tire does Toyo make in the 255-85-16 "E". I can't find it listed on their website. Thanks.

Andy, if you are on a budget look at the Walmart brand 265-75's load range E. I have been running them for about a year and have been pleasantly surprised with how they act. My son just bought a set for his 92 this week. Randy

As stated by Forrest, they are the M-55's. As far as I know they are the only "E" rated 255. With a skinnier tire it'd be especially prudent to stay with the "E" rating especially if you tow or carry heavy loads.

I have 255's on my 97. They definately fill the wells better than the 245 stockers. I like the narrow look, but that's me. Mine are D rated, but if I could have found E's when I bought, I would've got the E's. They are Big O's less aggressive truck tire. They perform well in snow, rain, and mud. I'm sure there are better tires for specific reasons, but these work fairly well in all.

my hurdle is coughing up the bread for the Toyos when I can get a BFG 285 E for less and if I have a problem on the road, I'll be able to find a 285 almost anywhere... the 255/85 isn't a very popular size
