How much is it worth

I've found a good deal on some 275 injectors, but I have a few questions:

1. What kind of power will I get with them and an EZ?

2. Will they set a code if I run them without the EZ?

3. Will they be easily recognizable at the dealer?

4. Are they easily installed by a moderately skilled shadetree mechanic?

5. What difference might I see in fuel economy?

Thanks!

Brian

1) You'll be at about 290hp with the 275's and EZ.

2) They will not set a code as long as you return the wastegate to the stock 20psi operation if you remove the EZ.

3) The dealer will not know they are in there. The only way a tech would know is if they have a book that lists all the ISB injector part numbers(which I know they're not smart enough to have). The injectors are buried inside the cylinder head, and a flat rate technician is not going to waste 3 unpaid hours of his day looking for injector part numbers or pop off pressures just out of curiosity.

4) Very easy to install if you can turn a wrench. Just go to www.dieseldynamics.com and print off a set of installation instructions.

5) In all of the installations we have done, the RV275's are the only injectors where folks consitantly get 1. 5mpg better economy.

I am very happy with my 275's... . but they have one problem... . after almost 1. 5 years, they leave you wanting more... . that is when I installed the Puck... my clutch got toasted... now I want more... etc...

Do you see a pattern here?

My next BOMB will be some fire hose sized injectors... . that should do it

transmission Issue

MikeR,

Thanks for the advice. How do you feel about Bob Wagner's comment about the auto trans? I don't tow any heavy loads, and I don't really beat the truck either. Can the trans survive? If not, what upgrade would you recommend?

Brian

Brian, you are asking Mike but I will put my 2c in anyway. With the EZ and 275's you will be at the absolute limit of the holding power of your transmission, and likely over the limit. The torque convertor clutch in a factory transmission cannot hold the torque of that setup under about 2K RPM. Driven easily you can get away with it for quite a while, but damage will be done if you hammer it. You can upgrade now or rebuild and upgrade later. Upgrading now is cheaper in the long run. The minimum to run the setup you want is a shift kit or a valve body. Shift kits are a PITA to install and can be worse to tune. The VB should be a bolt in and tune setup. Personally I would get the VB in preparation for the TC that will put the power you make to the ground. 20% more power to the ground for about $1000 is cheap power IMO and a quality TC will give you that. A VB should be about $400. I would buy DTT products personally. My honest opinions, I hope it helps.

I installed BD's products (see signature below) and I can be under 2,000 RPM's and put it to the floor with comp set at level one sublevel five and no slippage at all just smiles. The power at that level is about what you are looking at, mine maybe a little more because of the DD I's.

What ever the products you decide on if you go higher in power levels than just a plain EZ,VA,torque dog etc. or higher than DDI injectors you will need transmission upgrades.

I have the same turk as you and those same mods. I turned up the line pressure in my trans two turns. And so far no problems at all. I do baby the truck when I tow, and plan on at least a VB after 36k miles. brian
