I currently have 285/75/R16 BFG KO's,on my 2000 Ram,they were on when i bought it,now I need to replace them, has anyone went to a tire after having BFG's that they like better than the BFG's. The best price i can get the BFG's is for 165 here. The tire store i stopped at,the owner really is pushing Dunlop radial rover A/T's ,he says they re an excellent tire, probalaby better than BFG's?. IHe was touting there 60K warranty,I know Im going to tear them up in 30K at the most, with plowing, towing, and 400hp,they just wont last anyway,IMO. I am real happy with the BFG's,just looking for something even better if there is a tire better. I plow snow,so snow performance is a priority,I like how the BFG's look on the Ram,they just look real good on there. The rovers are 11. 4 " wide ,32. 7 tall, and 658 Rev mile. They are also load range D,any help on tires would be appreciated. I do not do seroius wheeling,so ultimate grip in that area isnt a concern.

Thank you, there is only a $10 difference in money per tire here, they want 155 for the rovers,165 for the BFG's. I dont mind paying the 165,id galdy pay 10 more a tire, for a better tire

I have the BFG KM on my truck and love them. My work truck runs Gooyear Wrangler MT/R (new style) and they are great. Wonderful traction in snow and mud, haven't had them in dry off-road yet. I tow 10k trailer on weight distributing hitch during the winter, and looks like I'll be getting around 30k from this set. One bright note, I can't seem to tear up the tread on these like I did on Bridgestone or Dunlop tires.

285x75x16

Take a look at Kellyspringfield Trail Cutters a great looking tire and has all the good ratings and numbers. I have enjoyed mind. Works like a dream in the snow, mud, etc. JMO :D

I bought a set of Cooper 285/75R16,A/T's tonight, they cost me 537 out the door, tax, tire disposal, mounting, balancing. I will use these for snow, and look into buying aset of Alcoa's with some nice rubber for sumer use, thanks for all the replys. BTW,I had a vibration at 35-40 before,i thought it was a U joint, but they were perfect when i pulled the trans to put the DTT stuff in this summer, well it was my tires, the truck is so smooth now,and the road grip in turns is so much better on these tires than the BFG's. It looks like they arent quite as aggresive, but still plenty of meat for snow use. My truck feels like new again. i wonder if i had a defective tire,or a broken cord before,it really is smooth now, thanks agian for all your help.

Finally! A topic I can chime in on!

IMHO, you won't find a better tire for all-around AT use than the AT/KOs. I had a set on my wife's Grand Cherokee (5" lift) and there just wasn't another tire I've ever owned that came close to the quiet ride and excellent (for anything you'd use a Grand or Ram for) off-road traction. They simply dominated in snow.

On my rockcrawling Jeep ('98 TJ, 5" lift) I have had 3 different sets of Swampers and currently 35/12. 5 GY MT/Rs. So far the 34x10. 5 bias-ply Swampers were my favorite but they were hell on the road. The Goodyears have very good traction (surprisingly good for snowy roads and a mud tire) but do hum on the highway. They are expensive as hell, but the way mine are going I think I'll get 30K out of them, maybe a hair more. This is with unbalanceable beadlock wheels.

I've also had the Coopers, on the Ram. They are junk, I couldn't wait to get rid of them. Zero traction in any condition at any air pressure. I replaced them with Bridgestone Dueler ATs, which I'm so far very happy with in the short time I've had them, but then, those foam rubber "We're No. 1" fingers taped into the shape of a circle would have been better than those Coopers. Seriously, the Duelers are quiet, seem to wear well In the month I've had them), and have pretty good snowy road traction. Haven't had them off-road yet so I can't comment there. They do tend to pick up a lot of pebbles which gets annoying when all you hear is "tick-tick-tick" all the time. They were pretty cheap, too, $125 each for 285s. Still, nothing even comes close to the considerably-more-expensive BFGs (except any of my Jeep's tires, but then, you don't want them on a daily driver).

Just my $. 02. Sorry to offend any Cooper die-hards out there.

BTW, if anyone wants to buy a hardly-used set of Coopers, drop me an email. Cheap!

I had Cooper Discover A/T's 285/75R16, (50,000 mi. treadlife warranty) wore them out in less than 30K. Pro-rated them out and bought 305/70R16 Coopers. Could never get them to balance, so yesterday I put on Bridgestone Dueler A/T's. The ride is real smooth, and no noise. The dealer gave me a 50,000 mi. full replacement warranty:) not pro-rated if I rotate the tires every 5,000 miles. We'll see what happens. (427 HP, can't let that power go to waste! HeHeHe!):D

Coopers are history for me!

I really wanted the 305's again, but not many manufactures make them.

I love the power the Cummins makes! Sure surprises a lot of people!:D

I had a set of 285/75/16 BFG on my truck and when they wore out, (after 70k miles) I got cheap and bought some Pathfinder ATR's (Kelly Springfield). After doing so, I wish I hand't been so cheap. The BFGs are quiter, handle better, have better traction, and look better. After having the Pathfinders for about 30k, it looks like the BFG's last longer too. Don't get me wrong, the Pathfinders are still pretty good but, I liked the BFG's better.

Don't make my mistake! Once you have some BFG's you won't want to go back.

285/75-16's - Interco TrXus MT = 3745# Load Capacity at 80 PSI!Oo. I've had all the rest (BFG MT and AT, Dunlop ATs, Bridgestone Desert Dualers) and if you EVER take your rig off road nothing beats TSLs, except maybe Boggers!

I have Futura Dakota's made by cooper tire . Bought them at Pep Boys for 89. 99 per tire. Look almost like BFG AT's . I have had them for 3K miles and couldn't be happier. I have owned BFG's in the past and I wasn't going to pay the high price for their name. I'm very glad I didn't .

I have the Dunlop Radial Rover AT's in 285/75/16. Got them in September, after TONS of research. I looked at everything, over & over.

Good center rib for the highway. lowered my rpm/mph ratio.

Much better grip in the snow (than the OE Michelins), and better wet grip too.

3,000 lbs max. 65 psi max (not 80 psi like the load range E tires).

No more, or less noise than before. Probably won't get 60,000 miles, but hoping for 45-50,000.

Nice looking tire too. Looks relatively aggresive, but not stupid.

I am happy with them.
