285's as a spare

Will a 285/75/r16 fit under the box where the stock spare is located? Just a little to time consuming and cold out for me to try myself. Someone must know, I hope! Been getting a lot of flat tires lately, building a house and picking up a lot of nails.

I just asked John P that exact same question via email since he is running that tire size. He said it fits in the spare tire well no problem. I am planning on getting 285s next month.

I have a 285/75R16 mounted in my spare tire space under the bed of the truck with no problem.

It appears that the 285 is close to the largest you can go.

Anyone out there have a larger tire size mounted in the stock spare tire location?

Looks like you lucked out with the spare fitting underneath. Ihad no such luck with my 295,s,the tire was rubbing against the exhaust. I ended up having to remove the exhaust brackets & shortening them to move the pipe over 1"& also welding some brackets to take a strap to keep the tire from rocking when supported by the wire as the tire does not fit in between the frame rails. What a pain!

Thanks for the reply's. I have never had my spare out just because of the huge difference in size going from a 245/75/16 to the 285/75/16. I kinda like my rear diff working properly!

My stock 265 has to be tied back to the trailer hitch to keep from rubbing on the Mag Hytec rear end cover. Have less than 1/2" clearance now.
