Flat-towing a full-size 4x4 pickup?

My Sons In The Market For Fifth Wheel (New)

We just bought a 28' tandem dually lo-pro gooseneck trailer with tails. It looks well built. It could be heavier in certain areas ie side rail is just angle iron and the pieces that hold the rub rail out are a bit light. I wish that the wiring was up to the same standards as our Canadian built trailers but for a little over half the money who can afford to buy one. I spent an afternoon hanging mudflaps and putting heater hose over exposed wiring. Our gravel roads would sure tear stuff up. The GVW is 23,400lbs. I think the trailer will weigh between 6-7000 lbs. I will have to weigh it when I get a chance. If the trailer was much heavier you wouldn't be able to haul much at all. Can't wait to take her for a spin with a load.

Since you did not post pictures "hint":), I went to Delta's website to look. They have some nice looking trailers, also lots of options. What is the "lo-pro", how do they do it without tire/floor interference? Also did you get the heavy duty/upgrade axles and two jacks? I would guess it would weigh 7,000 lbs.

One thing to check is the dove tail (loading ramps) they were not welded on very well and we tried to load a D4 and it pulled the ramps off the trailer!

I've got a Delta 24' 14000 pound deckover gooseneck that I really like. I bought it new in '04 and have put a lot of rough miles on it. The only thing I'd do different is to buy the dually tandem. Good luck with the new purchase.
