Hello all,

I have been a lurker for sometime and finally went ahead and joined.

I found probably the last set of 295 70 17's Nitto Grapplers available. Does anyone have any opinions on these tires? My last vehicle was a suburban and I had these on that but I was not too happy with them. They would not balance right and the tread seemed to wear rapidly. The tire shop told me that they have since redesigned the tire and that they are a much better tire now.

Additionally, does anyone have any photos of a 3G with these tires on stock wheels?

thanks in advance... ... ... ...

I don't know what these guys that supposedly get 50,000 miles out of a set of BFG's are doing but I sure as H#LL ain't doing it right. My tires have been rotated regularly and had proper inflation for the whole time and they are completely cooked with 32,000 miles on them. I'm not talking about sort of worn out, I meant they are totally used up. I've had BFG's an trucks for years but after this set I'm done with them.

I think they have intentionally softened up the rubber to wear faster. That may seem like a conspiracy theory but all my other sets worn very well but as these tires became more popular they seem to wear out faster and faster with each set.

ECappleman, My next door neighbor has a set of those tires (Nitto 295's) on stock rims and he is very pleaed with them. He said he's got about 11,000 miles on them so far and they look like they'll last a lot longer than my junk BFG's. He had a set of 285 BFG's that he only got about 25,000 out of.

Not to mention they are a heck of a lot cheaper too!

Thats just my 2. 5 cents worth on the matter. Good luck with whatever you choose. :)

I have a set of BFG MT's on mine that I bought in Sept of 03. I have about a 1/8" of tread left with 47,000 miles on them. I might be able to run to 50,000 but they will be bald. I am the worst about getting tires rotated, if I got mine rotated ever 10,000 I was doing good. I did have a wearing problem with the front insides cupping. On the pressure I was running 55 in the front and 40 in the back if I was running empty. I dont know if my next set of tires will be the MT's again it looks like I am going to buy the nittos because of the price difference.

I also have the Nitto's. Camper loaded and pulling a quad trailer they have performed well. I have ~11k on them now w/ 2 rotations and they are wearing well. When I decided to look into the Nitto's I went to the tire shop that I and a lot of other people go to and when I asked the tech about the performance and durability of these tires he just grinned and walked me out to his truck (Powerstroke  ) but still he at least has the idea. He said they would last every bit as long as BFG AT's and as stated above, less expensive. I took the plunge and at this point have no regrets.

PKnoerzer, I think that is just the right look for these trucks with stock wheels still. Very clean looking ride. I made the appointment and they will be installed tomorrow.
