Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2d gen codes

I have a friend that owns a 98 3500 4wd automatic. Is there a method to check the codes on these trucks like there is for the 3rd gen? If so, please pass it on to me, I really appreciate it.

I don't think the '98 was that easy. There are several PC based programs available. If memory serves, Auto Zone will do it for you for free.
