Well, maybe not stupid, but I did alot of work for nothing.
Got the replacement 4601HP from Summit. Replaced it yesterday - actually took about 30 mins. because I stripped of the pump mounting studs and had to swap it with one from the 1st pump. Got finished, bumped the starter, and . . . 8psi!?!? What the HE!!???? So I checked the voltage - 11. 2V. Disconnected at the stock harness and checked there - 11. 4V. Everything looks OK to this point, so . . . I decided to use a 3rd gauge (even though the first 2 gauges I used read pretty much the same, one electrical and one mechanical). 14-15psi at idle. Driving to work this morning, no less than 13psi (and these readings are with the gauge on my dash, so add about 1 psi for the actual pressures at the VP). I'll check WOT with everything on later today.
I feel better now (but a little stupid also). I'm gonna keep both pumps and have a ready spare on-hand.
