I would like to know if anyone out there has attempted or actually installed a 2nd Gen. front 40/20/40 front truck seat into a 1st Gen truck? I have found a really nice seat from a 1998 Quad cab with the center console and the driver side has the power seat with lumbar support feature also. Supply of power to the seat would be an issue also. I have a 1992 D350 Club cab and it currently has the standard factory full bench seat in it. I would appreciate any input. Thanks, Tim :)

Tim,

I'm almost positive that has been done by one or two in here...

Let's see if anyone jumps in. .

You might try running a search on this topic... try phrases like "seat conversion", "2nd Gen Seats", "new front seats" etc... .

Try to start out by limiting the search to the 1st Gen forum/archives and expand from there... .

Come on guys,,, anyone ??????

edit: say, didn't diesel girl do this to her truck???? tim, try a search on all posts by "dieselgirl"

I just found that previous thread regarding the seat conversion. Thanks for your help... I'll let you know if the 1998 seat works in my 1992. Tim

I kicked around the thought with my 93 350 4x4 , but never followed through with it. If I recall, the plan was to use the floor brackets from the 93, and bolt those to the new seat and then to the floor. You may have to drill a little, but no big deal. As far as funning power, just pick a circut that is only hot when the ignition is on and tap into it and run it down to the seat, and you can ground to the floor of the truck, or the seat bracket or the seatbelt bracket, really anything will work. Lemme now how it works.

Seat install complete!!

Wow it's like I have a new truck, having the 2nd Generation seats sure are comfortable. I used one from a 1998 quad cab. I like the 8-way power with the wonderful "lumbar support". My back loves it!! :D :D I decided to use my original seatbelts for now. It was a close fit. Thanks everyone for all the input.

Take care now...

Glad to hear your upgrade was a success! I agree that Second Gen power seats definitely make the First Gens more pleasant to drive.

If you could post some pictures of the results, we'd love to see them!
