We were looking at installing those kodiak steps on my Dad's 96 2500 and noticed that the e brake cable gets in the way if you put it 50. 25 inches from the back on the club cab... Anyone else find this problem. How did you fix it?
I fabbed my own mounts and dumped the ones Kodiak uses. It weird that the stock DC mounting that Kodiak made and supplied is not the same as the ones they sell aftermarket. I basically used the front mount that goes throught the pinch weld but for the rear or inside mount I went with the style that DC used. I used angle iron to extend back to the brace about a foot back under the seat that hangs down and drilled the side of the mount to hang it from. Hard to explain so I'll try and take a picture of my install and send it to you tonight if I get a chance.
The kodiaks went on my 98 Club Cab with no problem. However, I don't know if the 96' emergency brake cable is the same. If you want PM me with your email address and I will send you a pic of the E brake cable and the step.
I unbolted the cable where it is hooked to the frame and moved it to the sill, kind of behind the Kodiak mount. I used the hanger that was on the frame to rehang it. Didn't seem to cause any problems.
