Some of you might recall me whining about nerve damage and a numb right leg after long trips. After putting it off long enough, I got a 40 20 40 cloth, manual seat from a local yard for $150. Having a wooden box/desk, mounted on top of the original console, I have no need for the center console/seat and removed it.
I got the old and new seats on my garage floor and noticed that the slide tracks were the same width. I decided to completely remove the new floor brackets and bolt the new seat to the existing floor mount.
I thought the brackets were just riveted to the track, but after mangling one end with my cold chisel, I used the Sawzall to cut them off. I drilled out the front hole to accomodate the larger bolts I had. The other hole needed to be just short of 12" away. It was within the drill radius of an existing hole, so I used the side of my bit to make it work.
I need to add a final picture because the way the mounting bolts are shown is not how they ended up. I made the front of the seat sit slightly higher, as I needed the front edge to support my legs better. I used washers to make the lift.
I have a visor and a Shelf-It which makes my vision somewhat restricted, but after enduring the pain of my worn out seats, these seem like sitting on a La-Z-Boy.
If anyone has specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them, or send an better picture to help out.
I almost forgot, here's the picture gallery for it.
