2nd gen Topper on a 1st gen?

I would like to know if a Topper off a 1997 Ram would fit my 1989? I do not have the luxury of trying it either... Otherwise I would do just that! If anyone has tried it I sure would appreciate the results. Thanks, Ross

well I guess it would depend on the brnd of your topper, however, I recently aquired a topper off my dad's '97 for my '89 and it fits fine! 8 foot bed is an 8 ft bed, but like I said the only reason I would think it wouldn't fit is if it was custom snug to the cab or something like I've seen on those F150's

I think the bed tapers down in the back on a 2G there is also the contour of the backside of the cab. You could probably get it to fit but it probably would`nt look right.

I looked at one a few years ago. The rear of the bed on a second gen is about 4" narrower than a first gen. I stopped right there and didn't buy it cause I didn't feel it would look right.
