I've been reading the 4th gen TDR and Cummins forums for several months now about the 2014 trucks. Seems there are lots of electrical bugs that have to be figured out but then again, these trucks are extremely electrically complex now.

I hate paying for something that doesn't work so maybe I'll keep saving my money for when the 2015's come out.

I remember when I bought my first 3rd gen auto (2003), I had troubles with the transmission, a windshield whistle that never could be fixed and a few other little things. A year later, the HO's (04.5) came on the lot and I was quick to trade the 03 in. My 04.5 has had some quirks over its 250k miles but at least the first 90k were flawless.

Keep in mind that satisfied owners don't usually go on forums to tell everyone they haven't had any problems.

I have the 2013 and couldn't be happier except for the nagging vibration empty but that seems to be limited to the Aisin dually's from what has been posted. 1 trip back to the dealer for the radio and fuel heater and that's it. I would keep a few thousand dollars and get a 2014 as there are no real advertised upgrades of 2015 over 2014. Just my 0.02.

I have been very happy with my '13. Every computer I have bought needed multiple software patches, to the point that Microsoft, etc. want to automatically download and install them. Is it any wonder that the software on our Rams needs an occasional software "patch?" Software engineers are about as reliable as weather forecasts.

Has anyone figured out the dually vibration problem? I would not be very happy going from a silky smooth riding Dually to a problem!

These are about the same thoughts I was having a couple of months ago......been through this several times. When I went from a big block gasser and bought my 1991 Cummins, second guessed myself crazy. What the heck was I doing, I just bought a truck with 160 horsepower:eek: Turned out to be the best truck I have ever owned. Then, looked at the 2001's, thought I was crazy again.....a six speeed trans? a PCM, an ECM, fly by wire throttle??? 14 years and over 100,000 trouble free miles..........

Now a 2014, too many computers to count, buttons that are still somewhat of a mystery, and a lady in the dash telling me what to do( besides my wife) Love it so far, dealer has been great, the fit, finish, the way it drives are light years above the other trucks.

If you wait for a 2015, it will most likely be built with the same parts, by the same people, and cost more......

Best of luck with your decision, it won't be easy, I know it wasn't for me.

k... the vibration issue is close to being fixed as far as Im concerned. Its been a rough 4-6 weeks, but it appears to be resolved. I am still contemplating installing the Sulastic shackles as the frame on this new truck is VERY RIGID.

Guess I have to remind myself that most post on the forums is from the few that do have problems and that there are far more satisfied owners out there.

I remember when I joined TDR in 2005 after owning two previous Cummins trucks that ran well, I found myself looking for trouble with my current truck when in reality, there wasn't anything wrong at all. It's just that almost every post i read is someone who does have a problem and they're looking for a solution.

I'll keep reading about the 2014's for now.
