All Connection Points are being used with an Isolator and a Mech Fp gauge .



Useing a Fp gauge install tubing kit from the gauge to the isolator.



Connection from Isolator to ------POLL WINNER------- will need suggested please.



And also Mech. Isolator mounting point locations.



Im at my WITS END not knowing where's best to tap the engine at.



Been hiting archives for 3 hrs and everyone has diffrent opinions Im courious to know witch is best In this application.

I went with a tapped banjo bolt on the bottom of the filter.



That way, the dealership mechanics can screw their guages onto the shraeder fitting to check pressure without messing with my guage hookup. If they have to disconnect your guage to hook theirs up, they ain't going to be happy. The don't need any extra reason to be crappy when checking a lift pump problem out.

I like your idea to hook up in the bottom of the filter so garage test equip doesn't have to fiddle with the FP gauge hookup. What is the thread size of this bango bolt & do I have to modify it in order to receive my braded fuel line?

I am speaking about DieselMinded's text. The internet has spawned a whole new gneneration of kids who "hang out" in chat rooms (IRC), trade illegal software and some of them do bad things like try to hack into other computers and send out denial of service attacks (dos) to anyone who bothers them. As the person responsible for the technical department of a very large web hosting company I have been battling against their tactics for years. I know there M. O. and text using alternating capitals and lower case letters with a mix of numbers is a tell-tale sign. For example: freak = fR34k



Now, with that said DieselMinded may be a great guy and I do not know if he is a "scrpt kiddie". I was just asking... A script kiddie is the name given to younger people who like to think that because they can write a shell script or compile and use a piece of software (boring UNIX stuff) they think they are a high class hacker, or in h4x0r (hacker) speak they are l33t! (elite).

It's nothing more than a tapped banjo bolt from Geno's. The bolt is already tapped for 1/8 npt fittings. Just screw your 1/8 npt stuff right into it.



Hope no one gets offended about this, but you guys are making this way too complex. My fuel pressure install cost less than 50 bucks for all the stuff and it's bulletproof.

I replaced the fuel pipe leading from the filter to the vp-44 with 6 an braided stainless line and some an fittings with a fuel pressure gauge adapter. I figured that I would get rid of two restrictive banjos and have a place to hook up my gauge all at once.

That's another great idea. Everytime I think I've found a great way that someone else has discovered, I find someone else, like you for example, that gives me another good idea. Thanks for the input.

I think you'll be dissapointed with your answers from Genos. They have great service and products, but they don't see eye to eye with me on guages. I've seen too many posts about failed isolators on the guages. I researched and found that ISSPRO makes manual guages that don't require isolators. They also make tons of guages for OEM companies to use. Their EV series look great, and visually fit well with the stock guages in a 2nd gen truck. But, the fine folks over at Geno's are against non isolated guages.



Here's the deal.



I called ISSPRO and talked to one of their engineer/ tech guys. He told me their fuel pressure guage was fully compatible with diesel. No isolator required, just plumb your pressure right up to the guage. He did tell me that they would not condone mounting the guage inside the truck. I asked him how many failures he had seen spew fuel inside the vehicles, and he told me he'd never heard or seen it happen, but never the less, their official position was to recomend it mounted outside the cab.



So, I called Rod at Wildcat diesel to order his fuel pressure hose kit. He told me to save the shipping and buy the stuff locally instead to save money. He gave me a list of every fitting I needed, right down to the part numbers. When I walked into the hose shop, I gave the fellow the list and he had me out the door in about 10 minutes. My point is, if you live in an area without a hydraulic hose shop, just call Rod and he'll fix you up for less than 60 bucks.



What I wound up buying was an 1/8 npt needle valve to screw into the threaded banjo bolt. Then, I had them make me a braided line to go the the guage. He put the right fittings on the ends of the line to fit the needle valve on the one end and the guage on the other end. That's it, it cost less than 50 bucks.



I installed it all, started the engine, and opened the needle valve about 1/32 of a turn until the guage registered pressure. This needle valve has two functions. 1- it acts as a snubber to dampen the pressure pulses getting to the guage. 2- it acts as a safety. If the guage ruptures and begins to leak fuel into the cab, all I have to do is turn it closed the 1/32 of a turn to stop the flow.



My whole guage and all the trinkets to install it cost less than some isolators alone do, and it's not going to fail due to vibrations like some isolators have.

The hole is the banjo bolt will be 1/8 npt threads.



Just tell the hose shop guy that you need a needle valve to screw into the banjo bolt and you need to connect it to a guage x number of feet away. Take you guage in there to so he can see the back of it.



He'll do the rest.

I ordered a tapped banjo bolt from Genos. It directly replaced the stock bolt in the bottom of the fuel filter housing except it had an extra 1/8 npt threaded hole in it that the stocker didn't have. Then, I screwed my guage connection into the tapped hole in the new banjo bolt.
