2wd 3500 W/255-85r16 ??

I am looking to get some new tires for the rear of my '95 3500 and I was told by a local tire dealer that I could run a 255-85r16 on the back with no rubbing. Does anybody know if this is true? I have 245-75r16 on it right now and I want to go as tall as possible because my rear gear ratio is 4. 10 and it would be nice to have a little more highway umph.

I'd install a spacer or use the dually rims from a later model 24v truck that came with 235's. They have more offset, to prevent rubbing.

Will they fit on the front?? I have an 01...

I don't think they will fit in the front. my 235/85r16 rub alittle in the front. the tire dealer told me the 255's wouldn't rub together on the back.

They won't rub on rims that are POST 2001 (2001 --> up) as the offset is different on the rims that preceed the year '01. Up front they MAY rub. Mark we could just throw My fronts on yours and try it out, the rears I am certain that there is NO problem.

On the stock '95 rims, most likely. I can't even get my hand in between the stock size of the 215's . Only up to the palm of my hand, where they are the closet together. Really hard for me to get the valve stem caps off. They were meant for 215's and possibly the 235's may be OK.

Yes.
