I'm having trouble figuring out what size tire to put on my truck. I have some junk yard 3rd gen steel wheels (7. 5x17) and by using a comparison calculator online, a 265/70/17 wheel should only be 1" taller and wider. When I went to have them installed it was about 3"s taller than the stock tires (245/75/16) and won't fit because I have a low flatbed with only about 5" of axle travel now. I would like to put a slightly wider tire but maintain the O. D. of the original size. None of the tire shops in my area even have the sizes to compare against or act like they know anything. I'll have to order these tires and I don't want to have to live with some funky size.
