I was wondering if anyone has ever converted a 2wd to a 4wd? I have a 98, 12 valve, 2wd, 2500, quad and a 99 1500 ext, 4wd, gasser. I either want to convert the diesel to 4wd or the gasser to a 12 valve. Any info or comments would be helpful...

98 12 valve, 5speed, quad. silencer & muffler gone,

isspro guages, schaeffer gear oils, extra springs,

250hp-505lb ft. 313,000 miles!!!!!!! original engine

5th transmission

Your 1500 parts aren't heavy enough for the diesel and your diesel is too heavy for the 1500. The simplest thing to do would be to sell both trucks and buy a 4x4 diesel:D

What about changing the parts that arent heavy enough?

That would be all the parts you are changing!

The Diesel has a heavier frame, bigger trans, t-case, driveshaft and front axle. Your best bet would be to do what Steve suggested or buy a 4x4 Diesel the same year and configuration as yours and switch the parts between the 2 but trading would be better.
