I think it is getting time to replace the shocks. I have heard of a lot of guys going with "Ranchos" I think. Don't remember if these were for the 4WD guys only. Comments and recomendations? Thanks!

I have a 2wd, I went with Bilstiens. I got them through the internet, can't remember the URL, but it was one of the 4wd centers. I just saw the url on TDR a couple days ago for somebody else buying shocks, but I can't remember it.

I love the Bilstiens, can't remember what I paid either but it was cheeper then the ranchos, and other shocks the 4wd guys were using.

I think they been on there for 60k miles, and they still feel great.

Terry;

I put KYB on my 97 2WD RAM, 98 G Caravan, 89 Sunbird and love them in all applications. That Shop in Enumclaw used to recommend KYBs and Bilsteins for Rams.

I used to get a porpoising on the Seattle area roads when running unloaded. It was great loaded. Here, no problem on any roads. Not sure if that is better roads or the Gas-a-Just shocks have adjusted to the Ram.

A buddy has a 92 Ford 2WD diesel. He has tried a variety of shocks with KYB Gas-a-Just the last set. They are not enough to contain the twin I-beam front stupidity that Ford used for 40 years.

You're running a little heavier tire/wheel combo than me. I would do the Bob Wagner group purchase and get a full set of Bilsteins. You'll really need them when pulling the TT.

RustyJC put new shocks on his 02 3500 2wd. I think they are the 9000. I can't remember the # he put on for towing or empty but he did say there was was a difference in towing his 5er after install of new shocks.

Rancho 9000's

TS, I put the 9000's on my 2wd and would recomend them highly. Since the majority of time my truck is empty, I run the lighter settings and the ride is much better than the stock shocks. When I tow(9500 lb 5er') I crank them up fairly stiff and eliminate alot of the bounce and sway that comes with towing that much weight. The other brands are all good shocks but with no adjustability. I think with the Rancho's, you get the best of both worlds, either towing or unloaded.

I got mine at www.4wheelparts.com

They will price match and beat any other deal you can find.

Yep, I installed the Rancho 9000's because the stock shocks would literally make you carsick towing the 5ver due to front-to-rear porpoising. With the shocks set on 4 front/5 rear, it tows great. Running unloaded at 3 front/2 rear, the tendency of the front to "bounce" is pretty much eliminated, and the rear rides much softer than stock. I highly recommend them if you need the adjustability feature.
