A question for those that have successfully exorcised the bad steering demons. My 1999 2500 2wd can't seem to hold an alignment. In 18,000 miles, its been aligned by the dealer 3 times. Seems to be better (not right, but better) for a few thousand miles than starts pulling again. Dealer has assured me that the front end is tight and its probably just my driving.

Also, has anyone w/ a 2WD had the steering box replaced? What was the result? My steering has always been 'loose'.

Love the truck except for this little problem!

I used to do alignment for a living and believe me the training recieved by your alignment tech can be very little and then you get the results you have now, which is no fix on your problem. Ask around for a good place to go. Try asking at tire shops and auto repair shops that dont do their own work.
Good luck

My 2wd steering was loose too. I did the preload adjustment from the TSB and that cured most of it. Very easy to do.

Vic I have a 99 5speed 3500 and went through the same thing with a five star and asked to take my truck to a shop other than a DC as they could not lift my truck with the lift they had , I took it to a place that is used by fire ,garbage, bus ,RV,and other heavey truck users, . the one I used was Toneys in Louisville KY . I am sure you have a shop like that in your area. Look in the lot , tald to the people around the shop ask around don't trust just any one ask at the local fire house who is working on the fire trucks ect. I havent had any more pull to the right after they did the job. After DC did the alignment I could see the stearing wheel did not center when wheels were straight ahead that is a clue to look for. LoL
