I do not know if the weight and length would dampen the harshness at all. This is what I would classify as hard engagement. The heavier truck and more torque I think would amplify the engagement rather than dampen it.
The S10 I know of one being installed in is a $X$. So the size of the rear axle to weight of the smaller truck. Would put it about the same scale as our heaver rears and weight. That S10 should go around 4k. Half of ours with half the rear end.
On thing to think about on slick turns with a locker. If it unlocks in the middle of a turn. It can unload the chassis enough to slide the rear end. Been there done that. LOL
