I have a friend with an ISB in a flat-bed tow truck. There's what looks like a 3/4" pipe plug just an inch or two astern of the oil filter on the engine block. What's that plug for? He was hoping to use it as an alternative place to return the oil from his bypass filter (he's using the filler cap), but it doesn't look to me like the solution. I'm trying to talk him into drilling and tapping his valve cover.

If your friend puts his return line in the the 3/4" plug it will be going right down his intake #ad
. Drill and tap his valve cover would be easier. Just make sure there is clearance for the fitting.

That's intake? Down that low on the block and on the same side as the exhaust, I'm surprised! I thought it might have been oil gallery or coolant passage.

Sorry for my ignorance. I've ordered a service manual from my Dodge dealer; don't know how long it'll take to get it.

I appreciate the help!
