I'm sure this has been discussed before but I am having no luck finding it anywhere.

Does the TPS determine when the shift from 3rd to 4th (OD) occurs at WOT? I took the slack out of my throttle cable and adjusted my low idle the other day and consequently needed to adjust the K-D cable. Easy enough. With these adjustments made, I could not get the transmission to stay in OD at WOT. I flipped my TPS and used a cotter pin to keep it turned. Now the transmission goes in OD too quickly after the 2-3 shift. I've made several adjustments on how much it is turned but so far, I have not found a setting that changes the shift point. It pulls hard once in OD but I know it has to be hard on the OD so I want to get it shiftin at the right time.

TIA,

Carl

Carl,

I see you took my advice.

Now that you have got it flipped, turn the center section clockwise alittle to make it shift sooner.

OK Mark, what is this about flipping the TPS? I was just getting the thing figured out after you worked on the truck and showed me how to adjust the thing!

Please explain what this is about.

The reason he told me to flip it over and use wire is as follows. The hex fitting on the pump and the bolt head that fits inside it are so worn that the slop is ridiculous. I can almost turn the plastic piece the full range of motion.

Mark's advice was to just flip the TPS over and use wire on one of the bolts and bend it to fit in the TPS and make adjustments until it shifts correctly.

The hex fitting on the pump, at least for mine, is 1460363300, it took care of all my shift problems...
