There is option for 3. 42's with G56. Was at dealer today and found out but not clear if 4x4 or 4x2 limitations.

The dealer didn't know anthting about 08, think they had to call somebody about ratio.

Chrysler's really on the ball sellin' 08's and no literature.

Wouldn't know what to order if you wanted to.

Backwards!

In the process of buying my truck, I got a quote for an '08 with a G56 (same configuration is the one in my sig) and the spec sheet listed a 3. 42.

Sounds to me like they are trying to phase out manuals. I am wondering how this would work for those towing large rv's or heavy loads.

for the money you are gonna spend swapping gears in a 4wd application you would be nutz not to just install a gv o. d.

3k that will turn your truck into a whole different animal

don

I'll see how it does for the first year with just the AE G56 (. 74 OD) and the 3. 73. If I'm not happy, I'll consider the GV. How much is a GV going for these days?

That happened to me when I ordered my 07 C&C, I started the process in November of 06 and to my surprize the dealers had no info on the 07. They couldn't even tell me what the HP would be on the new 6. 7 except for the early 07's that were built by Dodge without the dealer input, which cost me an additional $1500. 00 with the added cost for the bluetech and the increase in the CTD cost.

It started out as a simple order of a C&C, SLT, QC (see sig for other info) into a stressful search for a C&C with what I wanted and the ability to see and drive it. Even the LA auto show only had the C&C in the ST model.

Yooper39, you wont have to change out the gears on your truck, 70MPH at 2100 RPM is just about perfect for all around use and if you want lower RPM's install the GV (Gear Venders) overdrive system and that way you will have the torque for pulling and MPG increase for Highway empty running. I almost installed it in my 04. 5 until I just got used to feel of wanting to shift into 7th. :) If you are going to pull even half of your trucks capability you will be happy with the 3:73 and the G56.

FYI I just read this on the WEB, posted April 8th 2007:

I had a Gear Vendors over/underdrive installed on my 1997 Dodge/Cummins pickup when new. It lasted 50,000 miles and broke. I was told that was quite an accomplisment as that unit had problems with the torque pulses of the Cumminis diesel (supposedly it was OK in other diesel pickups. )

I have just had unit #4 installed under warranty as unit #3 basically disintegrated with less than 2000 miles on it. It was never particularly stressed as I am pretty careful with this truck. I have just a tad over 70K miles on this '97 andn would hope it lasts a good long while.

At no time when I was talking to Gear Vendors or when they sold me the first unit or installed it did they voice any concern aboiiut backing up. They told me to always shift back to "straight through" before using the exhaust brake but never said squat aboiut backiing up. Now that they have supplied me a unit under warranty (for the first time!!!) they suddenly caution me to shift the truck into 4 wheel drive before backing up to reduce the stress on their unit.

The really bad news is that when their unit fails it blows out the automatic transmission in the truck which they specificaly state is NOT their problem.

Has anyone out there any personal experience with US Gear brand aux overdrives? Are they as fragile as the Gear Vendor unit?

Anyone with a Gear Vendor unit with high miles on it and satisfactory performance?
