How does diesel go up $. 62 in one day? #@$%!

Diesel took the jump here also, was $2. 759 for a good while then couple days ago went to $3. 199 over night. This morning noticed it jumped to $3. 299. :(

Mine is parked this weekend and we are using my wifes Jimmy if we go anywhere. Unleaded regular is $2. 849.

AWWWwwww - you guys shouldn't get so upset over mere pennies...

There are a few on this board who righteously insist we are seeing Capitalistic free enterprise at it's best - and a few others will tell you that if you can't afford to pay the price for fuel to get to work, you should merely get a more fuel efficient vehicle - maybe a bicycle - or change jobs to one nearer to your home...

Guess what *I* tell THEM! ;)

It's pretty easy to tell OTHERS to "change jos", move, or trade vehicles, as long as THEY haven't yet been hurt by rising prices...

Gas is more than a Capitalism to make a buck off of, it is an integral part of life and how people function. Ofcourse I don't have to tell you guys that. Let's do a hypothetical comparison, crazy. . maybe but the point may still come across.

Gas is almost as vital to our well being and way of life as. . water. We can't survive without water and you certainly couldn't live the way you do without fuel. Lets say the city of Las Vegas decided to make some money on water, jack the price up so people can barely afford it, where else would people get it? (they could always move to where the water is if they don't like it).

That seemed like a good idea at first and ofcourse the guys with the million dollar houses (and there are allot of million dollar houses) didn't really care because they could see it is just good ol' Capitalism that they can afford. Well soon the people had to move, the jobs started going away, and all the money wasn't coming in like it used to. Joe joe with his million dollar home finds his home is only a quarter million now because no one wants to live or work there anymore and his job isn't paying as much anymore either. Now Joe joe is mad because the bubble burst around him and finally effected his wealth and prosperity.

Now the only real difference here is that Las Vegas relies on people comming from around the country (and world) to pump dollars into Vegas. Vegas could continue as a city but not keep pricing levels at what they are if people stopped or seriously slowed down visiting. OBviously the water scenario only shows how a town could be affected inside out. Gas could hurt more outside in. Sooner or later it will effect us all, to different extents... . but sooner or later.

Guess I wasnt clear, maybe other's will understand. BTW I just looked at Diesel again this afternoon and it is now $3. 19 :{

Not poking at you JGann, I don't understand myself sometimes :-laf

These money-is-no object guys really need to get off their high horse, and use some common sense. Every one is not rich and can not barrel their chest out and wonder what the poor people are doing, as your servant is peeling a grape for you. I have always been "lucky" to have good parents, and a good home with plenty to eat along with some of the nicer things in life, not rich mind you, but comfortable. All it takes is some mis-fortune to bring your little comfortable world down to it's knees. Some will or may never have to worry about money, but the majority it is a concern. Remember it takes the so called lower-class or middle-class to make the higher class rich.

Like said above at this point of the game oil is what takes us places in return controls every thing else price wise. Sooner or later it usually comes to a head economic wise where the crap hits the fan.

On Edit: My Pop always told me to never cuss the water boy, because some day he may very well be your boss.

Screw it. I reported it to Valero, the feds and the state. Nothing will probably happen.

Valero Store #24677

9094 MILITARY TRAIL

BOYNTON BEACH, FL 33436

The Valero 5 miles down the road has diesel at $3. 17. Something screwy with this one store.

diesel here went from 2. 89 last thursday to 3. 19 on friday (when I needed it of course). Gas stayed the same, what gives????

Price of diesel jumped here in the last 2 days. One day it was $2. 79 one morning and I came back through a few hours later and it was $ 3. 21 a gallon. Another station around here in the Mc Kees Rocks are some price gouging SOB's they went from $3. 00 a gallon to $3. 35 he was charging $3. 00 while everyone else was at $2. 79. I really lucked out the other day when I got my truck back from the body shop I needed fuel and found a BP that had diesel for $2. 59 They are on business rt. 60 in the Moon Robinson area.

Same thing here - $2. 89 to 3. 09 overnight. Browsing the prices on the Flying J website it looks like a national thing. Its hard to find any state much under $3/gallon.

Yesterday was the start of the Federal fiscal year and a lot of new laws took effect. There wasn't some new tax or something that snuck through was there? Or maybe 10/1 is the date the refinery production shifts to home heating oil? Or maybe there is no rational explanation and we are just getting gouged?

My vote would be for the gouging statement. If when "time" comes for it to drop in price, and it dropped . 50 to . 60 cents at a time the way it increased instead of . 02 or . 03 cents I might have a different attitude.

I read a article one time here recently the question was ask why if a station fills their tanks on Monday and by Friday still selling the same fuel they got Monday, but price had increased considerably higher mid-week wouldn't that be considered gouging the customer. Their response was to compensate for the next shipment of fuel that was projected by the supplier to be sold to them at a higher price next fill up.

I don't think they are going to sell enough candy bars, cold drinks, coffee, etc only to keep the doors open. Or at least they do not need to depend on me to purchase such items every time I fill my tank.

What is the "official" reason for the terrible increase in diesel price? This is going to wreck the agricultural economy if something doesn't change!

Just paid 2. 99 and it cost me 82. 50 and I wasn't even on empty.

sure am glad I just bought a 98 saturn to drive around and only drive truck when needed. I'm lucky to be in a position that I can get a little work car, just think about the people working for minimum wage or a little over. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it would make you want to go on unemployment so you wouldn't spend all your money buying gas to get to work.

I filled up the 22nd of Sept for 2. 65 a gallon, bought 32 gallons. I searched today and finally found a station that had diesel for 2. 93 a gallon, it's one I rarely go to becaus they are usually high, but it's on the way to church. Diesel was all they had, they were completely out of gasoline. The normal truck stops along the route were 3. 39 a gallon and are usually the cheaper ones. I saw kerosine was 2. 09 a gallon at a couple of them, and it's making it awefully tempting not to start buying it and mixing it with some motor oil.

Morph.

This is going to be a bad year agriculturally. I was talking to a guy from Minn. yesterday and he said corn was at $1. 16 a bushel. I think it's absolute bull**** that a gallon of fuel is more than a bushel of corn.
