I am wondering if anybody has done this change to there rear end. . I currently have 3:54, I pull a heavy Trailer (17K) and was thinking of changing to 3:73's Just to raise my RPM alittle. . I really do not want to go to 4:10's because I feel this would be too high. . Also is there a way to adjust the speedometer?

Is it a 2x4 or 4x4? Twice the cost? 4:10's are not good with the 6 speed. The Smarty can be used to correct speedo error. I think you would like the 3:73's with the 6 speed and that load. SNOKING

Misconception sir, the speedo will read in error. My change in gear ratio and tire size was major and needed major correction.

OK I have done gears in my 02 2500, my wifes 02 Durango and a friends 01 1500 and none of them needed anything with to correct the speedo because the way Dodges are set up with the star wheel on the diff carrier they calculate between that and VSS in the trans/transfer case and it corrects the change on its own. WTBurke you tires are what through your speedo off not your gear change. Thtas why a Smarty has correction for tire height and not gear change fellas.

No, superchips can do it also as can a tech at a dealership which is what I did. I corrected my wifes truck (285s) with a snap on scanner. What size tires do you have?

The vehicle still does NOT know the distance traveled!!!!

It is incapable of knowing this.

WHAT are you talking about? Man I give up. OK so go to any Dodge dealer and tell them you need to calibrate your speedo cause you CHANGED GEARS in your axles and then come back and tell us what they said.

They will say it needs to be reprogramed for the change.

Without a GPS or radar-like some tractors have- it needs to know distance traveled.

How do you figure it dont? How do you think your speedo gets the info it uses to calculate what speed you're going? From a satelite? If the speedo is working so does the odometer. Like I said call the dealer. And by the way I have checked mine with GPS it is on the money.

I've been thinking about this swap as well to gain back some of my towing power that the truck lost when I switched to 315/75/r16 toyo's. I also used a smarty to correct my speedo and get some more power

I also have the 6spd
