Good afternoon and Happy Holidays, Has anybody installed a body lift on a 2500 Quad Cab truck? I e-mailed Mike Snyder after seeing his truck in Reader's Rides, nice truck. As you can see from my signature my truck already has some altitude. I've been pondering this for a while, but have some concerns. First I checked Performance Accessories web-site and the 3" kit will not fit trucks with the diesel engine. I've always wondering how you deal with the intercooler piping, radiator, and trans. cooler? Also, does the Quad Cab have the strength to be sitting on 3" spacers? My concern here is cracking, after all those Quad Cab doors make one big hole when they are open, so I imagine the cab doesn't have the rigidity of a regular cab or even an extended cab. I'm looking for some feedback from anybody who had done this before proceeding. Any information pro or con would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Glen

Just get a body lift for a V10, quad cab. All you do is cut one intercooler line to shorten it, and rotate the elbow on the passenger side, it's easy. I beat the hell out of mine come deer season and have never had a problem in 2 years! I was gonna put the Whiplash 10" suspension and sell my 5", but after all the money I sunk in chrome plating, I decided enough is enough. Some people bash body lifts, but I've used 'em on my last 5 trucks and have had excellent luck. Good luck and I'd say go for it!

Mike, Thanks for the info. I sent you an e-mail. Whiplash has some lawsuits against them, and you will also see their web-site is gone. They're still advertise in the magazines. Their 10" lift kit looked like it was more for looks than real off-roading. It uses 5" lift springs with a 5" spacer on top of the front coils. Looks like trouble to me. What kind of lift do you have now? 5. 5" lift, I'm thinking Tuff Country? Have a Merry Christmas, -Glen

I have the 3" body lift on my 97 that I put on about two months ago. I really never had a problem putting it on with the help of two other friends to help pick up on it when I would place the blocks under it. The only trimming I had to do was on the fan shroud, they send extensions but with our diesels the shroud is one piece. Also with my standard I never had to extend my shifter or anything. A buddy of mine has an auto and he had to extend both the transfer case shifter and transmission shifter. All in all probly about a 2-3 hr job while doin alot of talking at the same time. Hope this helps.

Try going with a 2" body lift. You will see a little less of the frame hanging down, and have less problems installing. Get a kit that includes bumper relocation brackets, and larger diameter cab spacers. Some kits use small diameter spacers for the bed and the cab. The better kits also use aluminum spacers instead of plastic. Like stated earlier, get a V-10 kit.

My lift is a Tuff Country. I broke the trac bar relocation bracket after about 11 months, but they replaced it no problem, but I would go with a DT trac bar. Mine is in the garage waiting for the chrome to hit it. Good luck!
