I had a few minutes with a DRB tool today at the dealer, and tried enable the 3cyl idle on my 2000 Dodge Ram. When i went into the Engine control settings, then to the 3cyl idle function, it gives me an error message "cannot comunicate with ECM" and faults back to the Misc. menu. At the main menu of the DRB, i did a scan for updates, and it said there is none... . but to enable this, is there somthing else I am missing?

thanks...

anyone... . the tech was no help on this at the dealer. I read the other posts and did exactly what they said to do, but I am not understanding why this isnt working, could it be that I still need to update the PCM?

Yep, I think it was sometime in 01 that they started coming from the factory with the 3 cyl software version. I had mine done at Bloomington Dodge because they quoted me the cheapest rate for the update. Took them a while to figure out how to enable it once it had the new software. I showed them the steps to enable it that I found on the dodgeram.org website. If I remember correctly, it had all the steps/menus on the DRB that you needed to go to in order to enable the feature.

Note that you will also get the undesirable oil pressure software update as well if you get the update for the 3 cyl idle. There was a post on here recently about that.
