I think the only major difference between your old 95 and the 3rd gen's is that the rotor is not pressed onto the backside of the hub w/ the wheelstuds, it just comes off like normal car/light duty rotors.
I tried everything else and none of it was easy but doing it like this I have both sides off in about 30 minutes. You will need someone to turn the steering wheel to make it easier.
I didn't read what Scott (Whamby) wrote, but I can vouch that whatever it was, was correct. I met him in KY, and he was explaining his process to a friend of mine that was also there (We were at TS Performance). My buddy followed Scott's instructions, and whiz-bang, the hubs popped loose.
Everyone will have to excuse my un-educated question... .
I thought only 4x2 trucks have ball joints? I have read several times on to check to see if they are bad... . raise truck slightly and see if there is any play when you pry up on the wheel/tire (I have yet to check mine) If anyone has any pictures or links they can reply with that shows what the upper and lower ball joints look like I would really appreciate it
I am coming up on 32k miles and when I get to about 35k miles and I want to take my truck in and have everything looked over before the end of the 36k mile warranty
Well a friend of mine and I were able to get the front rotor and hub apart and put the new u-joint in. No real problems, other than everything was well rusted. I don't know how a 2 year old truck's rotor (inside) could get so rusted, but I guess those Mexicans don't know about rain and snow, so they don't bother painting anything.
The new joint from Dodge went right in, but the AutoZone PDQ joint they listed did not fit (I will write up on this with pictures later).
It took about 4 hours to do the whole job and most of that was getting things apart. All went back together easily with lots of anti-seize for next time
