Headlight and tail light problem

i have a brake and ABS light on my dash that need to be cleared after changing out a damaged ABS sensor last week. what type of scan tool do i need to clear the lights from my dashboard? i am trying to get this taken care of w/o going to the dealer, and i have several friends with scan tools of different styles.

I have used an old OTC scan tool to clear codes on my truck. the scanner must've been at least five years older than my truck but it still read the codes and was able to erase them. I am just guessing that if a scanner can read the codes then it can erase them.

Those lights should extinguish as soon as you move the truck. If they don't, you still have another problem.
aside from a bad ABS sensor, what other issues might cause the 2 lights to come on? i wouldn't be opposed to doing the other wheel, if the sensor would be the only thing to cause it. FWIW, the lights came on as soon as i finished up changing the ball joints. i have several hundred miles on the new sensor, the lights are still on. i can see myself picking the wrong sensor. kinda like getting to a fork in the road and having to choose the right direction...

You can also ohm out the sensor ckts as soon as the fault is repaired(most and faults) the light will be gone
