Looking for people who have gone from 3 inch to 4 inch here. How much did it lower EGTS?? Gonna be building my own 4 inch system this next week, would like to know what to expect. Would 5 inch lower them even more??

Peace,

Willie

Three to Four

Just installed 5" through out and no difference (still running stock hp). From what I have read, you will see the benefit when the boost jumps past the stock 20 psi mark and when a larger turbo is installed (larger hole for the heat to go). I don't yet have those installed, but hopefully the larger exhaust will come in handy when I do...

temp drop

I have a hx40 16 waste-gated with a 4 inch and with both of them seen a drop of 60 to 70 but can not say just with the 4 inch. I would have say about 20 to 30 from 3 to 4 inch It's not that much. There are other post on this and they say the same and then you got people saying 80 to a 100? But you you can't believe everything you read.

I installed a Jardine 4" exhaust and an Edge EZ (with boost elbow) on the same weekend. Maximum pre-turbo EGT's encountered when towing our 13,500 lb 36' 5th wheel RV dropped from 1300 degF to 1100 degF. Unfortunately, the 4" exhaust probably contributed very little to that - it's mostly due to the boost increase from 22 psig to 30 psig that resulted from the boost elbow installation.

I for one am expecting a huge savings in EGTs going to 4 inch, if not, gonna be a boring ride up the mountain when loaded. With 14-15k at 75 have no trouble accidently cracking past 1. 5k EGT. Backing out of it and running a mild 60 I still had trouble staying under 1,250. DOC thinks the exhaust will do what I need. Haven't done no foolers or elbows or plates. Don't know nuttin bout um. Guess maybe I need to ask DOC some questions. Guess I need to update my sig to show the 75hp injectors also.

Steve,

If you're running bigger injectors with stock boost levels, the best thing you could do to lower EGT for minimum cost is to install a boost elbow and boost fooler. More air = lower EGT.

Edit: Oops - just saw you have an automatic. If you have an HY-35 turbo, you may have to turnbuckle the wastegate or put an empty 22 cartridge in the turbo hard line instead of using a boost elbow. You'll still need the boost fooler, though.

Rusty

Hi Rusty, thanks for info. I have an auto, but the HX35W Turbo. Will talk to DOC about the fooler and elbow.

Thanks,

Steve J.
