3" lift and 35" tires

Hey! Ive got a question for a friend who just bought a 03 2500 SB 4X4, he is wanting to put a three inch lift and some 35's on but is wondering about ride, height and fuel mileage. I know there is quite a few that have lifted and installed larger rubber, do you have any recommendations for him?. He also questioned putting a 2" leveling kit in the front... . any thoughts?

I lifted front 3" and put on some comp all terrains 35". The ride is better than it was due to the tires giving more. The height is what it is, I'm not sure of his concern with just 3". I think I lost about 1 mpg with all of this but gained it back plus 1 with an EZ box. Does he have 4. 10's ? If so 35's I believe brings him to a 3. 73 area. (I read that in another forum I'm not sure how accurate it is. )



If he keeps his stock wheels he might get away with a 2" front lift. I went after market on the wheels and could not get the stock off set, so the wheels hang out a little more than I wanted. With this you lose turning clearance at the fenders. With a 3" lift I barely clear and had to do minor trimming to have clearance when I off road. I did run the stock wheels with the 35's for a while and everything worked well with no trimming.

You should read the FAQ on the top of this section. Lots of people run 315/70's, which equate to about 34. 5" tall on the stock wheels. Some of us even run 315/70's on 9" wheels with only a 2" leveling kit.

I have a buddy that runs 37" MTR's with a 3" front level kit.



As for mileage, I only ran the stock set up for about 3 days so I have no frame of reference.



I will say the 2" leveling kit finishes the truck off nicely, and I would do it again without hesitation. There's loads of pictures around here to give you a better idea of what it would look like.

Can anyone tell me if 315/70/17s would rub the rear whell wells if you loaded your 3500 with one ton

of dirt or whatever material? Has anyone tried this? seems to me the wheelwells would come down on top of your tires.

It would be hard to believe it would rub. I just put 6 315/70s on my dually with spacers between the wheels and 3" inch spacers up front. They ride great.

I've ordered a truck much like yours and am looking for some info. Hope you can help.

You mentioned that you used the Daystar 2" leveling kit. Did you change yor shocks? If so what did you use.

Also you used MT Cassic II's 17X9 w/ 5" backspace. I'm looking at going to after market 17X9 wheels with a 5" backspace using 315/70R17 BGF's also. Just curious if those wheels and tires stick out from the wheel well at all or if they stay tucked in pretty good.

I did change my shocks. Not sure what the final length was, I just asked the parts guy for shocks that were 2" longer than stock and he obliged. Somebody else might remember though, lots of us have done it.

They do stick out by 1-2". I drive through the smallest puddle and I get splatter on the sides. I don't mind though. Looks great even dirty
