3 Lift pumps since October!!!!!!

Factory pump went out in Jackson TN at 138,000 +-. Replaced with in tank lift pump for a modest price of $650 + motels and food for 4 days.



2 weeks later truck starts to loose power when fuel level gets down between 1/4 and 1/2 tank. Fill tank above this mark and truck will run fine. Dealer says bad pump and tank dirty. Replaced pump under warranty (12 mo. /12,000 mi. ) Had tank cleaned for $130. 143,000 miles



2 days ago it started again. As fuel level approaches between a 1/4 and a 1/2 tank the truck starts loosing power. Turn on my auxillary fuel and get level above this point, truck runs fine. 164,000 miles. no warranty.



Any ideas? Anybody else with this problem?



I am going to put a FASS system in BUT, if the suction line is losing prime the FASS system wont work either.



HELP!!!!





P. S. As I start down a hill and the fuel moves toward lift pump the problem goes away, as I approach level ground again problem returns.

Has to be something fouled up with the cage the pump sits in. Is it going clear to the bottom of the tank? I think the bottom part is spring loaded.

Thanks for this post!!!! I just had this repair done on my truck with 62,000 miles on it. I am still on my first tank since the repair. It just dropped below 1/2 tank and I was pulling my trailer today, I did not notice any loss in Power! But thanks for the advice, I never like to get to 1/4 tank anyway,
