i have a ats 3 piece but i would bet they are all made in the same place. isn't it about the same price for a name brand one. i hate bd stuff so i would recomend staying away from them even if they are made in the same place. just wont give them my money anymore. is your stock one cracked i think i may have one laying around if money is a issue you can have it.

Hi Cody,

Thanks for the reply. No, mine is still okay but it is starting to show signs of shrinking. I am just starting to look around for one to do next spring. I think you are right about they all seem to come from the same place if you look at the pics closely. The only one so far that appears to be different is from PDI, see the link I included below. They have their initials etc. cast into it and there appears to be a little more metal between the ports.

PDI 89-02 Dodge 5. 9L 12 Valve 24 Valve Cummins Exhaust Manifold

Thanks a lot for offering me your spare manifold. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Regards,

Gene

PDI looks just like my HTT sans the PDI logo. IIRC, the PDI is lasting the best for the pullers.

Gene, there's another thread on going called, "05 Exhaust Manifold", by jelag. May be worth reading to compare notes.

I'd heard that the shrinking manifold can result in part of the block breaking, i. e. the manifold ears. So I'd eventually planned on this as a preventive fix... after other items. What exactly are the aforementioned "signs".

It won't hurt your block but it could break the ear off of the cylinder head. Best case scenario it will break the ear off of the manifold. If I was even suspicious that it had shrunk I would get a new manifold. Not only will you know that your head will be safe but your engine will breath better as well.

I installed an ATS exhaust manifold on my '98 12v. I'm not sure but all the brands look the same. I was disappointed with the fact that ATS raquired the reuse of the turbo mounting studs and nuts. Not easy to remove. Also the port casting was horrible. I spent hours removing material. Not just deburring and polishing. I mean obsrtuctive pockets that I carved out. I was not overly picky, like I would be if it were a naturally aspirated race car. I never got to the point of polishing. That said, I noticed the turbo spooled up much quicker. I never had the pyro hooked up to the stock manifold so I have no reference. I have no egt issues at this point. I would recomend the manifold, but I would allow time to open it up. If the other companies offer a better casting, I would go with them.
