Made a run to Larado this weekend and went past the 300,000 mile mark. I will send the pictures of the truck and odometer as soon as I get them. Do you send them to the Peachtree address? Anyway I thought I would post this. The truck now has 300,415 miles on it and is still going strong. Don't think anyone can complain about that.

Congrats on reaching the 300K milestone :D

Yes you should sned the pictures to the Peachtree address

We look forward to seeing them in a upcoming TDR Magazine. :)

EB: How about a list of any repairs you've done? How many track bars, brake jobs, fuel cables, fuel tank senders, transmission repairs..... etc... ... I'm not trying to razz you. Just think it would be of interest and will let us know what to expect.

Congrats on 300,000! Some brag about 100,000. My feeling is that just about any abused vehicle will go that far these days, and with reasonable care will go 175,000. Now 300,000 is something to brag about. The pay back on that extra $4,000 you paid for the Cummins is just kicking in. It's like driving a truck for free!

Good luck with the next 300,000!

Repairs on the truck are not many. I replaced the transmission at 100,000 miles (New from Dodge) I do my own brake work, have changed front pads a number of times, still on original rotors, back pads once. Changed rear axle seals once, thats when I changed the rear brake pads, (oil soaked) put a starter, the usual headlight harness and key switch harness and a water pump. Thats about it. I change oil every 12,000 miles filter every 6,000 miles, transmission fluid is changed at 25,000 miles. I use Amsoil in everything and could maybe go longer in the transmission but I consider it to be the weakest part of the truck. When this one goes I have already talked to Bill K. for one of his complete transmissions. I plan to run this truck until it quits or I wreck it. Hopefully it has a long way to go.

I am just now at 200k and have been hearing about a number of things that need to be changed checked etc. Is ther somewhere that has a guide past 100k? I have heard injectors delivery pump lift pump etc but what are the guidelines mileage, pressure, wear tolerances, piece of mind? Any ideas on transmission that is runninfg 180-200 degrees unloaded in traffic but holds 20k load at 70 no problem at <150?

I now have 353,500 miles on my 97 extended cab 3500 leased to a trucking company. Here's the problems I've encountered

fuel gauge quit working 300,000 miles ago

cruise control's been worked on twice

4 or 5 front brake pads (never replaced rear shoes)

1 rotor

2 Interstate batteries

rebuilt alternator at 350,000 miles

rear axle seals replaced once

3rd set of shocks (Monroe's)

lift pump went out at 286,000 miles

had auto trans rebuilt at 346,000 miles (wouldn't downshift occasionally-never did slip)

also at 346,000 miles had the vacuum pump check valve give up and contaminated all my vacuum lines with oil ($1100 at dealer to replace all lines, accuator valves, etc)

3 sets of tires: around 90,000 on factory Goodyear's. 156,000 on next set of Michelins and 112,000+ on this set of Michelins

have never added oil between oil changes & regularly get oil analysis done

have never replaced any front end parts & has never been aligned

My truck weighs 9000 lbs empty- I've hauled from 1 lb to 8500 lbs and my overall fuel mileage these last few months has been between 16. 8 and 17. 4 mpg

It's been a pretty good truck and I've made pretty good money with it
