I just installed a 3k gsk and now when i start my idle is very low.

I adjusted the idle then the engine took off and no matter what I did it wouldnt idle down, it reved to 3000 and I had to shut off the engine.

It will start back up then do the same thing.

whats going on?

HELP! :(

Are you saying you have the springs tightend all most all the way down? If so that is your problem. Go back in and loosen the springs up and then go back down 2-3 clicks on each side. The first click is kind of hard to feel but if you loosen and re-tighten a few times you will get a feel for it.

I had the exact same problem a few days ago when I did my 3k gsk, I still haven't gotten them fine tuned yet, but the problem you are having with the engine just revving out of control is because you adjusted the idle screw too much, I did the same thing and looked all over for something wrong. The screw is very sensitive, and only takes very small adjustments. Go back the other way and keep testing it.

The 3k GSK should be set at about 42-50k from the top of the stud to the top of the nut. This setting may cause the engine to idle very low or even low enough to die without some throttle pressure.

At this point it should take approx 1 full turn on the idle adjustment bolt to get it where it will idle on its on. Then its 1/4 turn until you get it fine tuned.

I measure the stud to nut amount before I take it apart and that is what I put it back to. All the trucks that I have changed have worked out great.

Problem solved!

With the great help from Piers I found out that there was more to the lower seat. I found another lower seat along with the lower seat for the tiny spring in the middle.

Then after digging farther I found one more flat shim for the lower seat and 2 shims for the large spring still left deep inside.

Fished everything out, set the depth to . 050 and shes all good to go!

I also set my idle up about another 50-100 rpm's so that when I let off the pedal and the engine came to idle it would not give me the rpm bump at the end of revs. I was told that the idle needs to be high enough so that the govenor wont idle down too low.

Thanks everyone for your help!
