I'm putting in new 3000gsk on my '97. Got everything apart (finally!) and got the first set in fine. 3 springs + the large one that stays came out. Rotated it around to the other side and 2 springs + the large one came out. I got 2 shims out of both sides, the bottom holder, top holder and the nut. I've fished around in there and can't get the smallest spring out of the one side. Is it possible that there would be unequal number of springs? I've looked with a mirror, but can't really see too well... it appears to have a sleeve of some type, but no other spring unless it is stuck somewhere. Help, gotta get it back together. Thanks!!!

I would think that if the seats came out than either there wasn't a small spring or you could have dropped it. You can get a better look down in the pump by pulling the AFC housing and the plate.

Good Luck

Brett

One of my small springs came out evidently stuck to the magnet and I did't see it.

Found it next day on the ground where I was putting the old parts. Easier to look there than in the pump first.

Well, I put it back together after looking all over... never did find it! The truck started right up with no knashing or crashing. Either it wasn't there to begin with or it dropped down and hung up somewhere. Thanks for the suggestions!

Found it! It must have come out on the magnet, dropped, and rolled into the driveway! Is there a heavy sigh of relief icon?
