Does anyone have experience with a 305/70/17, on our factory 8" rims?

I've read a number of posts with guys that are running 35's on the factory rims that don't seem to have any problems, but when you look at the "recommended" wheel width for a 305, it says 8. 5".

Is there some type of safety issue that I should be concerned with, or will there be excessive rubbing?

Thanks in advance.

I have 65000km on a set and should get another 20000km out of them. This truck is ran @ high speeds or hooked to a 12k trailer all of the time. They do not rub even with boards and flaps. When you rotate switch the front ones from side to side when putting them on the rear. This will clear up any mild cupping that may have started.

Thanks for the reply Juiced - Just curious, I noticed that you are running a set of Bilstein shocks - did you have the tires on prior to those shocks? Just making sure that when I order these tires I don't need to upgrade my shocks at the same time.

Thanks again.

Any time you add unsprung weight an upgrade to the shock is a wise move.

BTW I am running a 13. 5x37 on the stock wheels without any problems

Thanks for mentioning this. I'm planning on buying a set of 315/70/17 for my stock 04. 5 rims plus I'm adding a Kore HP suspension with Bilsteins. It appears from what I read the tire combo won't rub and the Kore should allow a better ride with a nicer looking stance.

On by '03 I ran 315/70/17 BFG AT's on the stock alloy wheels and had minimal rubbing on the lower control arm, no big deal. With the H2 wheels (less backspacing) no rubbing at all.

I have been running BFG 315/70/17 for the last 4 years without problems on factory alloy rims

Thanks for the info. I really don't want any rubbing..... or should I say I don't want to have to explain to my wife why there's a strange new noise when turning. :-laf

Yep, quoting myself! :-laf I bought the Kore kit and the Dueller AT Revo IIs and LOVE them! Tires has good traction on dry and wet pavement and is quiet on the highway. Love the new stance of the truck as well. Sadly though, I can no longer fit in the parking garage at work! :{ Hope there's no hail this coming spring!
