Has anyone ran this size and brand of tire? I am thinking about getting them in the next month or so and would like some feedback as to wear and traction i realize they wont get the best wear but ill sacrifice that for the traction anyday... also i was thinking about getting them siped... . opinions?

Thanks

I have the MT/R in a 37" on my 1990 Bronco. They are without a doubt my favorite tire. I would have put them on my CTD, but they weren't made in a 37x12. 5x17 at the time. They ride smooth, quiet, and do exceptionally well in snow and mud. They also seem to be doing well for wear too. I only have approx. 5k on them so far, so can't say if they will be a 50k tire or a 20k tire, but so far I love them. Check out Sams Club for the price. I paid $840. 00 mounted/balanced with warranty for my 37x12. 5x15's. Everywhere else was at least $200 more.

Um, MT/Rs are anything but quiet. I am sure they're a good tire in the proper situations, but don't buy expecting a quiet A/T type of ride/sound.

I have the 285/70R17 Goodear MTR's on my truck and I simply love them. They wear really good. the give me awsome traction rain or snow and on dry pavement. They are a nice tire for hauling a heavily loaded gooseneck trailer. I do go fourwheeling quite often and I have never gotten stuck with these tires dispite dragging the front axle tubes in the mud backing out of holes my 4 ton (CAT certified scales weigh 7992lbs) truck makes. I think they ride just good as the stock tires and don't even notice the tire noise. I actually miss the noise of a swamper but its the price you have to pay in the Fuel mileage world. Oh and the tires give you better fuel mileage the stock tires cuz they got my rpms closer to right. some tires that have high rolling resistance and eat MPG digits. I am probably going to sell my current goodyear mtr's and buy another set in a 305 cuz I simply love them and they will get rpms perfect with the 305's. I got alot of **** from the wife about buying them but they are well worth it.

They're a mud tire. And as far as mud tires go, they are very quiet.

Mt/r's

For a mud tire they are quiet. Try running Super Swampers if you think MT/R's are noisy! My first set of 305/70/17 MT/R's lasted 72,000 miles. This on my 2500 4x4. They were rotated every 3500 miles at first but I then went to every 7000. If you watch air pressure and rotate they will last. I'm on my second set. They are expensive but they outlast alot of other tires in their catagory.

We live at 9600 ft. in Colorado, we do experience serious snow and extremely steep, slick hills. I have the 285's on my 2003 4x4, 48RE, Quad and they have performed well beyond my expectations. Highway with snow I run 55 PSI. Heavy snow off road I run 35-45 PSI. The Durawall construction lends it self well to airing down. I have about 7,000 miles high speed and offroad on them and they still have 19/32 tread. New they have, I believe 21/32 tread. I don't have a clue as to how many miles they will take me but they are the most impressive streetable snow and mud tires I have ever run.

I have been running MTRs since they started making them. I ran the unidirectional MTs before that on my '84 F-150. MTRs are awesome, except for the tread wear. I guess you could get 40k out of them if you run them to the bars, I usually get about 20k because I need traction real tread provides.

I suggest frequent rotation. I squared two by running them too long on the front. I would suggest rotating them every 10K. See the "square tires" tread for details.

Only guys who run swampers would consider this a quiet tire. My friend down the street says he can hear the tire noise before the engine noise on my Ram when I come to visit.

As for siping, I haven't tried it. If you are frequently driving in snow, it would be a consideration. I need the support of a full block due to the amount of time I spend on granite. I've seen granite pull entire chunks out of tires due to the sipe. The sipe weakens the block.

You can do things with these tires in two wheel drive others need 4x4 for, as long as you have modified your rear suspension to handle wheel hop :-laf

The biggest problem right now is with the strike at Goodyear, you can't find MTRs in 17" anywhere. If you do, let me know as I need two.

Merry Christmas

White Sheep, Got mine at Sam's end of October, had to order. They came in about 5 days. They weren't cheap. I think about 120. 00 each. Performance is worth it to me and they sure do perform. Goodyear is claiming much better wear on the new compound and Durawall construction.

We sell them at work. People love them, except they do wear fast on the fronts with the extra weight of the diesel and summer heat. The strike has been ratified on friday night from what i hear.

On my second set now after getting 62K out of the first. I rotate every 3k and even the guys at 4 Wheel Parts couldn't believe the milage I received.

305/75r/16's are not cheap but, they are dead quiet compared to others, outstanding in the snow. They are very scary on ICE... no siping and best of all they are round at 105Mph.

These are the best tires I've ever had... . and they look *****in too!

i have had my 37's for about 6-7 thou miles so far, work great in the dirt and sand and rocks. i rotate about 4-5 thou, with every oil change.
