Has anyone ran 305/70-16's on stock rims? Will the wider-bigger tires rub #ad
with stock rims?

Ii personally haven't run the 305/70's on the stock 6. 5" rim but I have ran into two guys that have done so. Neither were on a CTD, nut that really shouldn't matter much. Both guys said the tires didn't rub.

IMO you shouldn't put that wide of a tire on a 6. 5" rim. You will run into problems with the centers wearing out faster than the rest of the tire. The way to compensate for this is to run a lower tire pressure so the tires contact patch is even all the way across. This may be difficult to do with the added weight of the CTD. The tires did look a bit funny on the wheel, as they had a lot of sidewall buldge.

I'm sure if you go to a good tire shop they will recommend that you don't do it and may not even do it for you. Not because of rubbing, but because it's the wrong size tire for your rims.

I put 285s on my stock rims, and I can tell the middle wears extremely fast. I'm going back to 255/85s, better mileage, same height, no ballooning.

I've got 275/70 BFG ATs. I consider them to be the max width you should consider. The tire appears to be wearing well and doesn't have any rubbing problem but it just doesn't look right on the 6. 5 rim. The recommended minimum for this tire is 7. 0

I'm running the 305/70/16 Goodyear Wrangler ATs on my stock rims and there are no clearance problems at all. The truck has no lift kit on it, either.

I run 305 70 16 with no problems at all on stock rims

Iam also running 305/70/16 Goodyear AT-s tires on the stock Steel chrome wheels and they look great, they dont rub and after 15k miles the centers are in no way wearing out like the first guy commented. There is nothing wrong with running this size tire on the factory rim,let the worry warts run the tires they want to run and just get the 305's you will love em

At least try to find out what the tire manufacturer says for recommended wheel size (sometimes it's a range, sometimes a single size). If 6. 5" is below that then you probably have your answer. I'm not sure if some of the major tire manufacturers have for on-line info, but the tire stores should be able to tell you. My 305/85's are on 8. 0" wheels which is what Denman recommends on-line. My personal opinion, which is exactly that - an opinion, is that 305 is too wide for a 6. 5" wheel.

Good luck in your decision.
