305 motor swapped for 325

as anyone done a 305hp/555tq for a 325hp/600tq. If it can be done i have a manual transmission and if i get the 325 it has the turbo computer with it. Just looking for some words of wisdom and if there is any major differences that i should be aware of before i even consider this project?? thanks

Why would you want to swap? The 305 has none of the external emmissions equipment, 3rd injection sequence, or cat. Significent ECM program changes also. If you are going to bomb anyway, I don't think you will gain any by going to the 325.

I agree 100% with this. You can get just as much power from the 305 and probably get a little better economy too.

yah you can but it will cost you alot more just for instance with the smarty 03 made 130 added hp at 30# of boost while the 04. 5 made 170 added hp at 40# of boost and as far as fuel economy i got alot better out of my 04. 5 but i am not worried bout fuel economy my foot is too heavy for that, i already have a 5in exhaust on my truck now the first thing i do with my diesels is cut the cat out. not to mention 03's have alot more problems with dropping valve seats and ruining the whole motor. If you could get a newer motor with way less miles that had more hp and tq and was drop in replacement you wouldnt be intersted in that guess not and your tst box would work on it but anyway now that we got that out of the way anybody got and information for this swap??
