I’ve been driving the truck a little more than normal the last few weeks to get to my 30K mile service, and today was the day. I’m sitting at 29975 miles and 902 hours (78 idle).

I did the standard things

- Aisin drain/refill
- Fuel filters
- Air filter
- Cabin air filter
- tire rotation

I also did some extras.

- brake fluid flush... really a partial flush, about 1.5 quarts total. I was going to do more, but this system bleeds SLOW with my vacuum bleeder.
- power steering fluid exchange. I sucked out the reservoir, refilled and then ran it for a bit while checking for fuel leaks and trans level. After that I repeated the exchange process.
- lubed my brake slider pins. The ‘18 is much easier to do that on than the ‘05, at least from memory.
- greased the front wheel bearings. 5-6 squirts each

All in all it was about 5 hours of maintenance.

The brake pedal feels firmer, thou it shouldn’t with that few miles on the PS fluid and brake fluid. So ???

After the last couple weeks it was nice to have some alone time in the shop and do a little wrenching.

I caught that “partial” brake fluid flush. :D

What filters did you use? What transmission fluid did you use? Was it almost dead on 7 quarts or a tad more? Additionally....what type of grease did you toss in the front unit bearings?

Yep, only partial ;) How will my brakes survive?

I got a FS53000 and a PFF54529 from Geno’s. Minor differences between the FS53000 and the Mopar one I took out (also purchased from Geno’s, the FS53000 was cheaper this time).

I’m using Amsoil ATF in the trans. It took just a tad over 7 quarts. This is my 2nd change with Amsoil ATF, I did one at 15K miles since I can’t leave well enough alone :D Running out to 60K this next time thou.

I pushed some Amsoil #2 NLGI multi-purpose grease into the wheel bearings. It’s the same grease I use on my trailers, as well as the spin-free kit when I had my 05.

I thought there was a special mopar transmission oil for Aisin?
ASRC.....but Mobil 3309 is its twin brother, and even says so on a sticker on the side of the transmission. Mobil 3309 can be shipped to one’s house for about $71 for 12 quarts.....a much better value than the ASRC.

Reason why I am asking is if you do so and it's correct then measure what drained and put back the same. But I am sure GS understands that. :D
If there’s anything positive I’ve learned from YOU it was to somewhat measure one’s drained fluids as a baseline for adding the correct amount of fluid back. Of course.....in the transmission setting, checking for the correct fluid level a few days before servicing it does increase the accuracy even more.

Picture below depicts the amount of fluid drained after the first sump filter servicing of my AS69RC after the PML pan installation.

Could the brakes feel firmer because you greased the pins, and the calipers are simply more responsive (binding less)? What did you end up using?

It does have its own rating. It’s 3309 which is the same as T-IV. Both of which, as well as ASRC, are on the Amsoil ATF bottle. It’s also what I use on my 4Runner that calls T-IV. It’s been in the runner for 175K.

How did you grease the front wheel bearings? Mine is a 2wd so there sealed units and I have heard that you can remove the ABS sensor and squeeze grease in that hole but I have never done it. Got 212k on the truck. Any thoughts or ideas?

I’m sure everything has a small impact. The factory grease was dirty but not bad.

I used some brake pin grease I had in the cabinet. With the ongoings the last couple weeks I didn’t have time to go get the other stuff. This should work well for now.

The 4wd trucks also used sealed wheel bearings. I did it thru ABS sensor. It was pretty easy.

I don’t measure any fluid I drain. I simply fill it to there it should be, regardless of what came out.

Good to know since I’ve been a scam-oil user for over 35 years.
