I would like some opinions on your experience with different brands of 315s. I will be running them on stock rims with the truck in my sig.

I am eyeing up the Nitto grappler ATs but would welcome any other opinions.

I care about comfort and ride quality (I need a tire that will balance well). I have run "bad" tires before and it makes life miserable. I don't care much about tread life (driving has been reduced by 75%). I would also like good snow traction.

thanks,

Jason

I'm runnin the 315 Nitto grapplers on stock rims. I've had mine about a year now and they're pretty good tires. They ride smooth without any road noise, and so far they're wearing evenly. I haven't had any problems with the tires being unbalanced. But they don't seem to be lasting as long as I thought they would.

I have the BFG 315 ATs. I've heard of balance problems with these but so far I've had no problems and they are wearing even. I have other trucks with BFG's and they've all done great for me. These seem to be the same.

I just bought a 01 Ram QC 4X4. Just after buying it I put on a set of 315/75/16's Nitto Grappler AT"S. They do look really really hot on the truck..... I so happy with the way they look  . I was blown away by how little road these tires generate, they are really really quiet for a fairly aggressive all terrain. I haven't had them very long or had a chance to drive them in bad weather yet, so I can't give you an opinion on that. They rubbed a tiny bit when you cranked it hard to the left or right (not a big deal). I later put in a 2 "leveling kit to finish off the look, that really put the finishing touches on the truck.

I think Nitto is made by TOYO ?

Gotta love the lightening bolts on the side of the tires ! :D

Really happy with the purchase !!!!!!!!!

Matt

Thanks Matt. I am just about ready for a set but I am torn between these and some Truxus MTs in 285 size. I might be leaning towards the nittos right now.

Thanks again. I need a tire that goes really good in snow and ice.

Jason

The Terra Grapplers are a nice fairly aggressive AT tire. I've heard they don't wear all that great. I know several people who have had the Truxus MT... I believe you can expect about 30K out of the Truxus... hopefully more from the TG

Thanks Jeff. I am starting to hear that the nittos wear somewhat fast and in that case I might as well get the trxus mts. I'll only be driving about 12 miles to work as of November (down from 54 each way right now). So I can go fairly aggressive. Plus I spend a lot of time in the mountains.

Thanks!

dude i have had two sets of CRAPPLERS in the past yr and a half... 17k on first set and about 20k on the 2nd... i was running 325 18in on after mkt. wheel. I was going to try some toyo but from what all the tire dealers tell me they are on a national back order aswell as nitto. . they look awesome on my 2003 dodge but at 225. 00 per tire i could not afford to do again... YIKES!! GOOD LUCK FRIEND, ROUGHY MCCOY

I have had both tires. I had 285 TRXUS MT, they suck! They don't clean very well and I only got 20k out of them. I currently have 305 Nittos and love them. I am on my 2nd set, I got about 35-37K out of the first set. They have needed no weight to balance. They don' clean well either, but they are a/t! When I am done making my new lift I will be getting larger Nittos. But then again tires are like politics, someone will always disagree with you!

I have about 12,000 miles on my terra grapplers and they are well over half gone. I really do like the tires but I do not like the durability.

I've only had my 305s for a few thousand miles so I can't comment on how long they will last. I can say they are the quietest tire I've ever had on a truck with this type of tread design. If others know that they aren't wearing well/very long it could be that the compound is soft??? However, it could be balancing too. I've been converted to dyna beads for balancing. With my previous Coopers (305s) I've gone from good old speed balancing (@ 12. 50 per tire), to Road Force (initially @ $25 per tire - then it increased to $75 -125 per axel - I optioned to look elsewhere) and then I finally decided on the beads. Cost about $65 (depending on size) for all four and it's a one time deal, unless you have to get a plug/patch then you have to rely on the repair person to catch all the beads and re-install them and not slop the glue around the patch. The ceramic beads will adhere to sticky areas. MHO - Also, the both the Cooper and Nitto 305s didn't rub at all before or after I put the leveling spacers on.

I originally wanted Toyo Mt's but as one of the posters said they are on back order. There wasn't any in the size I wanted in all of Washington state.

I can confirm what Joe Mc said, these tires are so quiet it's incredible. Originally I was concerned about the road noise with any 35" tire, these tires surpassed my expectations that way. They look dynamite on the truck, I get people looking over at them when I'am parked at a street light all the time :--)

I'am okay with the premature wear compared to other brands because of how good they look and how quiet they are.

Yep I did the Truxxus thing - they did not last long at all... Little too soft for our trucks I think - I know guys running them on lighter rigs and they last great. I have some Toyo M/T's on order now
