I'm needing to get new tires soon. Been thinking about getting the BFG AT's. Since I still have the stock rims, I've talked to a couple of tire dealers and a few of them have told me not to put 315's on my stock '03 rims because the rim width is smaller than what is suggested for the bigger tire and would cause a bubble effect in the middle of the tire since the tire is squeezed on the rim. Is this true and has anyone experienced this running these size tires on there stock rims? They told me to go with a 285. Not really wanting to.

P. S. BFG website suggests for 315's: 8. 5-10 rim width

running them now, but on 06 stock rims, not sure if there is a difference in the width of the rims between 03 and 06

The BFG 315s suggested wheel size width is 8. 5-10. 0. The Dodge stock chrome or alloys are 17x8. They are a little thin. That said I have 51,000 miles on my BFG All Terrain A/T 315/70R/17s on stock Dodge 17x8 wheels. I will probably get 60k before replacing. If you keep them aired up properly you will get a little cupping wear. You can see the middle tread wear now on mine, but not much and has not effected the life of the tire much if any. I balance and rotate mine every 6-8k.

Sounds like they have more 285's than they know what to do with, I like my 315's. I have some minor rubbing at full left or right but nothing to fret over. I'd go for the 315's.
