My Brother in Law went looking at new trucks today, and is considering buying a 2004 3500 Dually. I suggested he buy one with the H O engine if he could get it with the automatic. I am not to up on this 3rd Generation stuff!

Anyway, the sales person told my brother in law that all the 2004 trucks had the H O engine. Sounds like B. S. to me, is this true? What options does he have for the 3500?

Thanks, Erik

All 2004. 5 trucks equipped with the CTD have the 325/600 engine and are approved in all 50 states. The only two transmission choices are the NV-5600 6 speed and the RE48 Automatic. Note that this applies only to 2004. 5, not the 2004. 0 models.

Not true for 2004. 0 , 5 states could only get the SO. I happen to live in one of them (NY). Bought my HO in my "home of record" and registered it there.

2004. 5, as stated, all 325/600--50 state legal.
