Emission sticker on the valve cover from the 04. 5 on.

The 04 and 03 HO 3rd gen truck wasn't Calif certified. Just the SO Trucks. If you live there, you needed to buy one with 7500 miles already on it or the DMV would say sorry Charlie.

Im SOOOOOO glad I left California 4 years ago to live in Oregon, land of the free and home of the $55 every TWO YEARS DMV fee and NO SALES TAX! :) Oo. :D

There is no difference on a 325 motor. Only the sticker on the valve cover that states its CA certified is the difference.

Sounds odd and makes you wonder then why they are not all CA certified and the short answer is it costs the manufacture money to buy that certification.

Just to add to what 2Gen3Gen said is that there are also 03-04 SO trucks that are not CA certified running around. Those trucks have a 250hp motor where the CA model has a 235hp motor.

What makes the Cali edition of the '03 have 15 less hp?
I don't know for sure but I think they have smaller injectors and maybe timing is retarded a little more to help lower Nox.

I had an 03 CA SO 235 and with a simple VA pressure box makes it feel just like the 05 I now have.
